Team HatCulCon.
We are a dedicated team of volunteers who work together to make sure your experience is enjoyable and enlightening.
We are always looking at areas that need exposure and think of ways we can deliver this.
We hosted our 1st Black History Month Cultural Pop-Up Market and Workshop Weekend in October 2023, within a small unit in The Galleria Shopping Centre in Hatfield. Our organiser Davinia, had a vision of what the event could be and was confident that with the right support from her fellow volunteers and backing from sponsors, it would be a success.
After a successful 1st year, the event tripled in size for 2024.
We were in a larger unit welcoming 40+ stalls to the pop-up market, hosting more workshop, provided entertainment and attracted 1000+ visitors over the weekend.
We were delighted that local residents of Welwyn Hatfield Borough were joined by visitors from across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Birmingham and other parts of the South East of England in the UK.
Each year, we hope to introduce more activities so our events schedule grows.
Although we are a non-profit Community Interest Company, all of our activities are researched and arranged by volunteers, we do not have paid staff.

As a local Hertfordshire County Councillor, I am proud to support Hatfield Cultural Connection CIC’s Black History Month Cultural Pop-Up Market & Workshop Weekend. Celebrating Black heritage, culture, and enterprise helps bring our communities together, fosters understanding, and inspires creativity—especially among young people. I was delighted to use part of my Member Locality Budget (which each councillor receives annually to support community projects) to support the children’s workshops and help make the event possible. It’s wonderful to know that this contribution has helped the activities can go ahead, giving families in our community a chance to learn, have fun, and celebrate together

I’m proud to support this year’s Black History Month Cultural Pop-Up Market and Workshop Weekend in Hatfield. It’s a meaningful opportunity to celebrate heritage, promote learning, and strengthen the bonds within our community. At the heart of my support is a belief in the power of education. These workshops and cultural activities offer residents—especially young people—a chance to engage with Black history, creativity, and resilience in ways that are interactive, inclusive, and inspiring. It’s about amplifying voices and stories that have too often been overlooked, and ensuring that everyone in Hatfield feels seen, heard, and valued. As a councillor, I’m committed to supporting events that bring people together, foster understanding, and celebrate the richness of our shared history.

Raising Awareness.
For the past two years we have supporting Endometriosis UK by raising awareness for this debilitating condition through our events and raising fund through raffles which received prize contributions from local business.
We feel very strongly about shining a spotlight on health conditions that affect our team and those which don't always get the attention they need.
Last year, we also introduces health checks with a local registered doctor, which were warmly received when GP appointments are proving harder to book. We would like to continued supporting health and wellbeing in anyway we can.
