More Donations Delivered for Jamaica’s Recovery

As Jamaica continues to navigate the difficult aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, a resident in Welwyn Hatfield has once again stepped forward with a donation.

On Thursday we collected another thoughtful and generous contribution from Nina in Welwyn Garden City. She donated a beautiful selection of brand-new children’s clothing which included, t-shirts, trousers, skirts and shorts

Recognising where the need is greatest, we delivered Nina’s donation directly to The Angel Foundation JA. The foundation works closely with children, families and schools in the deeply affected parishes of St James and St Elizabeth. Because of their direct, on-the-ground relationships, we knew Nina’s donations would have the greatest impact through their distribution channels.

Packing and Shipment to Jamaica

In addition to collecting donations, volunteers Carmen and Davinia joined the foundation to help pack all items into barrels for shipment. Their hands-on support ensured that every contribution from clothes to essential supplies was carefully prepared for its journey.

The shipment departed on 20th November, transported with the support of one of the foundation’s sponsors, Transpakship.co.uk. Angelia, from the foundation , will be travelling to Jamaica to personally meet the shipment when it arrives, guaranteeing that donations reach the children and families they are intended for. She was incredibly appreciative and asked us to pass on her sincere thanks to everyone who contributed.

We have shared a short reel on our socials from Thursday’s drop-off. Although we weren't able to attend and capture the delivery of the barrels to the shipping container personally, we have seen the footage of it arriving.

What’s Next? Supporting Jamaica Through New Health Challenges

Jamaica is now facing new health risks. The Ministry of Health and Wellness has reported rising cases of leptospirosis and tetanus across several parishes, including - St James, Hanover, St Elizabeth, and St Ann.

Severe flooding has increased exposure to contaminated water, leaving rural and low-income communities especially vulnerable.

We are raising funds to purchase:

To help protect those most at risk, we are launching an urgent Donation Drive to purchase these essential protective items:

  • Wellington boots

  • Zip-up mosquito nets

  • Mosquito repellent

These supplies will be sent directly to affected communities to help reduce exposure, prevent infection, and keep families safe during this critical time.

💛 Please donate what you can. Every contribution — big or small — helps protect lives.
