The popular community celebration returns to The Galleria Hatfield for its fourth year
The Black History Month Cultural Pop-Up Market & Workshop Weekend is returning to The Galleria Hatfield this October, continuing a four-year journey of bringing people together to celebrate culture, community, creativity and Black history.
Organised by Hatfield Cultural Connection CIC, the volunteer-led event has become a familiar part of Hatfield’s event calendar, growing year after year through the support of the local community and the shared values of those involved.

The event is once again being hosted at The Galleria Hatfield, marking the fourth year of the partnership between The Galleria and Hatfield Cultural Connection CIC. The continued partnership has helped the event establish itself as part of Hatfield’s annual community calendar, providing a welcoming space for local businesses, community organisations, families and visitors to come together and celebrate.
The event will return to The Galleria Hatfield on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October 2026, creating a welcoming community space where visitors can discover independent businesses and makers, explore handcrafted products and creations, meet community organisations and take part in activities for all ages.
There will also be a themed “Express Yourself” creative corner, where visitors can get involved in creating a piece of artwork to display.
Families and younger visitors can also take part games, giving children the opportunity to play and learn while celebrating culture and community.
The team would like to thank Hertfordshire County Councillors Cllr Paul Zukowski, Cllr Beth Kelly and Cllr Hillary Skoczylas for their support in helping provide activities that will make the event even more enjoyable for families.
A key part of this year’s event will be the new exhibition, exploring Black history, achievements and experiences and giving visitors the opportunity to learn, reflect and discover stories from both the past and present. With funding from the Black History Month 365 Fund from A2Dominion, Hatfield Cultural Connection CIC has been able to develop and create the exhibition, with the aim of making it available to schools and community organisations beyond the October event.
“Black history, culture and achievement should be recognised and celebrated all year round, not just during Black History Month. Through the Black History Month 365 Fund, we’re proud to support community-led projects like this exhibition, helping to bring Black history and experiences to life and create opportunities for people to connect, learn and share.” Marisa A2Dominion
The event is being delivered by a team of volunteers from Hatfield Cultural Connection CIC, who are passionate about creating accessible community events where people can come together, learn from one another and celebrate culture.
“We’re delighted to be returning to The Galleria Hatfield for our fourth year. The support from visitors, stallholders, community organisations, volunteers and our partners has helped the event grow into something that people look forward to.
The team is inviting the Welwyn Hatfield community, visitors from across the surrounding areas in Hertfordshire and our neighbours such as Bedfordshire, London and Essex to come along, explore the market, take part in the activities and discover more about the people and stories being celebrated.
